The following render is a fragment of the unreleased indie game, "1AM Sorry," built on Unreal Engine 4 - an immersive walking simulator set within the expansive, richly-detailed woodlands of the Rocky Mountains. This project was born out of a desire to capture the sense of uncertainty and transformation experienced by a group of individuals in a national park amidst a governmental climate lockdown.
In this immersive environment, players would have found themselves engaging with a landscape dotted with randomly placed structures, each holding keys, notes, and items essential to progressing in their journey. However, the game introduces an unusual twist: the closer the player comes to the central cell tower, the more reality distorts, creating an additional layer of complexity and challenge to the gameplay.
"1AM Sorry" was inspired by my personal experiences during the "Covid Years" at college, an era marked by isolation, adaptability, and resilience. The game aimed to translate these personal narratives into a captivating digital experience - a solitary exploration of a shifting, mysterious world echoing with untold stories.
